OUR WORK with Public Schools Teachers
We work with public school teachers whose commitment to improving education addresses specific learning objectives with well-defined outcomes. We facilitate teacher learning through innovative practices and channel resources for greater student participation and autonomous learning. In addition, we cross-pollinate through the formal and informal exchange of ideas, thus growing teachers' knowledge base.
OUR WORK with Education Officials and other organizations
We partner with local education officials to shoulder initiatives, galvanize community support, and influence the learning ecosystem. Being mutual allies with local authorities guarantees support, motivation, and acknowledgment of school efforts to provide a safe learning environment for children. We maintain open lines of communication to establish effective follow-up strategies in all schools. Abako partners with other nonprofit organizations to strengthen efforts and increase impact for children in underserved communities
OUR WORK with Communities
Educating our youngest citizens does take the whole village. Education is a public good; children develop social skills and collective consciousness through meaningful interactions with people in their communities. Bringing families closer to school is key for parents to learn about the school culture, build rapport and trust with teachers, and identify areas where they can contribute. By the same token, community leaders are allies who know and understand the contextual dilemmas and limitations that can derail a school's efforts to educate children and can help mitigate or eliminate such obstacles.
